Constitution & Byelaws

These Byelaws serve as the governing document of the APC Progressive Support Group (APSG), established as a legitimate support body operating in synergy with the All Progressives Congress (APC) Constitution and Guidelines.

The APC Progressive Support Group (APSG) was officially recognized by the the All-Progressives Congress (APC) on September 30, 2022 under National Chairman Sen. Abdullahi Adamu, and renewed on August 27, 2025, under National Chairman Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda Goshwe.

All activities of APSG shall align with the APC’s aims, objectives, and progressive ideology to foster national unity, democratic consolidation, and electoral success, particularly in preparation for the 2027 General Elections and beyond.

These Byelaws shall be interpreted in harmony with the APC Constitution, with the latter prevailing in the event of any conflict.

The mission of the APC Progressive Support Group (APSG) is to mobilize, enlighten, and unify Nigerians at home and abroad in support of the All-Progressives Congress, fostering grassroots participation, promoting inclusive democracy, defending progressive values, and advancing policies and programmes that ensure peace, equity, prosperity, and sustainable national development.

To be the foremost progressive support movement in Nigeria and the diaspora, uniting citizens under the ideals of the All-Progressives Congress, and driving a future of national unity, inclusive democracy, good governance, and sustainable development for all Nigerians.

   To serve as a unifying support platform for promoting and fostering the unity, political stability, and progressive consciousness of Nigerians in alignment with the core values of the All-Progressives Congress (APC).

   To mobilize, sensitize, and organize grassroots structures across all States, Local Government Areas, Wards, and communities in Nigeria and in the diaspora, to canvass support for APC policies, programmes, and electoral victories.

   To provide a bridge between the Party and the people, ensuring effective communication, policy enlightenment, and citizen engagement on government programmes and initiatives.

   To promote inclusiveness and representation by empowering farmers, workers, women, youth, and persons with disabilities to participate actively in the APC’s democratic processes and Nigeria’s governance.

   To support and defend internal democracy, discipline, and the rule of law within the APC by encouraging transparent processes, fairness, and accountability in all structures of the Support Group.

   To build networks and alliances with like-minded political and civil organizations whose objectives are consistent with the APC’s progressive ideology.

   To champion civic education and political awareness, actively resisting all forms of oppression, exploitation, and misinformation targeted against Nigerians or the APC.

   To promote social, economic, and political freedoms by supporting APC’s initiatives aimed at equity, development, peace, security, and national prosperity.

   To strengthen Nigeria’s global image by supporting the APC’s foreign policy agenda in fostering international cooperation, cultural pride, and solidarity with oppressed peoples worldwide.

    To promote knowledge, science, technology, and innovation through APC-led government initiatives while encouraging local expertise and skills development among members.

    To act as a reliable machinery for electoral mobilization, supporting the sponsorship of eligible APC candidates and canvassing votes across all tiers of government.

    To do all things necessary and ancillary to achieve the advancement of the APC’s vision, mission, and progressive governance in Nigeria.

6.1 Eligibility

Membership of the APC Progressive Support Group (APSG) shall be open to:

• All Nigerians, at home and abroad, who subscribe to the ideals and progressive ideology of the All-Progressives Congress (APC).
• Persons 18 years and above, irrespective of gender, religion, ethnicity, social or economic status, provided they are law-abiding citizens.
• Diaspora Nigerians who are APC members or Supporter.

6.2 Categories of Membership

• Comrade Members: Individuals registered at the grassroots (Ward, LGA, or State Chapter) who participate in APSG activities.
• Diaspora Members: Nigerians residing outside the country, organized under recognized diaspora chapters of APSG.
• State Chapter Members: Coordinated groups operating within states and the Federal Capital Territory under the supervision of the National Secretariat.
• Honorary Members: Distinguished personalities who, by virtue of their contribution to the APC or Nigeria, are conferred honorary membership or made Patron or Matron by the National Executive Committee (NEC) of APSG.
• Affiliate Groups: Like-minded organizations, associations, or professional bodies admitted into APSG to support its objectives.

6.3 Rights of Members

Every registered member of APSG shall have the right to:

• Attend, participate, and vote at meetings and activities of APSG.
• Contest or be elected into any office or committee of APSG, subject to eligibility criteria.
• Be appointed into committees, task forces, or delegations as deemed fit by the leadership.
• Enjoy equal rights, privileges, and protections guaranteed by the APC Constitution and APSG Byelaws.
• Access information on policies, programmes, and initiatives of APSG and APC.

6.4 Duties of Members

Every member shall be required to:

• Uphold the mission, vision, core values, and objectives of APSG.
• Remain loyal to the APC and its leadership structures.
• Participate actively in mobilization, sensitization, and advocacy programmes.
• Respect the leadership, decisions, and internal democratic processes of APSG.
• Promote unity, discipline, and progress within APSG.
• Pay any membership dues, levies, or contributions as may be determined by the leadership.

6.5 Termination of Membership

Membership may be suspended, withdrawn, or terminated on the following grounds:

• Death.
• Gross misconduct, indiscipline, or anti-party activities. (via 2/3 vote of executive)
• Breach of APSG or APC Constitution, rules, or regulations. (via 2/3 vote of executive)
• Conviction for a criminal offence involving dishonesty or moral turpitude.
• Voluntary resignation, duly communicated in writing to the relevant authority.
• Non-participation in APSG activities for a period exceeding twelve (12) months without valid reason.

6.6 Reinstatement of Membership

• A member whose membership has been suspended or terminated may be reinstated by the appropriate leadership body after due consideration, provided such member shows genuine remorse and willingness to abide by the Bye-Laws.
